Clayton Energy Company was established in November, 1993.  The Company is owned by Gary N. “Buck” Hackworth, who, after his employment as Vice President of Land at a mid-size independent oil and gas company, decided to venture out on his own and establish Clayton Energy Company in Jackson, Michigan.  Buck’s past experience has allowed him to offer the Company’s clients a full range of land based activities in the oil and gas industry.

 

Phil Hackworth and Greg Hackworth joined the Company nearly 15 years ago and are very involved with its daily activities.  Our Administrative Staff is second to none, overseeing all of the data, which comes into the Company for review and distribution to our clients.

The Company has grown into a full service Oil and Gas Land Brokerage Firm, which offers lease checks and take-offs, title ownership verification, pipeline right-of-way acquisition, obtaining State oil and gas leases at State lease auctions, well site damage settlement, abstracting, oil, gas and mineral lease acquisition, title curative and due diligence to its clients. 

The Company has also assisted clients in the acquisition of oil and gas production in Michigan, which included the due diligence of the seller’s interest. 

 

Currently the Company retains several independent contractors (brokers), all of which are experienced independent landmen, whose efforts provide the Company and its clients with a wide range of resources. 

 

We have provided our services for numerous oil and gas companies large and small, including Devon Energy, Marathon Oil Company, and DCP Midstream which have led to lasting relationships.
